Lady Beaverbrook's Rolls- Royce Phantom VI On the 15 January 1970, an order was placed via Mead Of Maidenhead Limited, to supply a Rolls- Royce Phantom VI, fitted with an enclosed Limousine body by H J Mulliner/Park Ward. The order (CP1714) specified that the Phantom should be fitted with fog lamps, full width occasional seats, front and rear safety belts, and Dunlop tyres. A cocktail cabinet and Sundym glass were not required. The car's paintwork was Astrakhan, with Bridge Of Weir green hide and headlining, and dark brown carpets ? an unusual choice perhaps, but then this 'chocolate-and-lime' colour scheme was well known as the horse racing colours of the Phantom's flamboyant new owner, Lady Beaverbrook. PRH4597 was duly delivered on 28 April 1970. The sales invoice reveals that this elegant and stately Rolls-Royce cost a shade over £11,580.00 - an enormous sum of money at the time, but drop in the ocean compared to the staggering amounts that Lady Beaverbrook gave away during her incredible lifetime Lady Beaverbrook kept the car for three decades, and following her death, it was donated to the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu in 1999, where this regal and imposing Rolls-Royce was admired by visitors for the next sixteen years. To raise funds for the museum, it was auctioned by Bonhams in December 2015. The sales catalogue described the Phantom VI as being in need of re-commissioning and some tender loving care, something that Christofor would appreciate, having nursed two husbands through serious illness.   More pictures available Visible only on appointment For further informations , please contact us +32 (0)2 681 81 00 & sales@british-sportscars.com
